Backup setup: your photos and documents kept safe
Losing photos and documents is a shame and often unnecessary. DOK Computers sets up a reliable backup at your home in Rotterdam, on an external drive or in the cloud. We explain how to find everything again.
When do you need a backup?
- Your photos are only on one laptop or phone
- You get a message that your storage is full
- You're buying a new computer and want to take everything with you

- Your computer makes strange noises or keeps shutting down
External drive or cloud?
You buy an external drive once and keep it at home yourself. A cloud service such as OneDrive, iCloud or Google Drive stores everything automatically off-site, usually for a small monthly fee. For most people a combination is the safest.
We explain the differences and set up what suits you. After that, saving happens automatically. You no longer have to think about it.
Transferring and restoring data
With a new computer we transfer your photos, documents, email and favourites. If something has gone wrong, we look at what can still be recovered. We're honest about it: with a broken drive that isn't always possible.
What does setting up a backup cost?
The rate is €12.50 per 15 minutes, including VAT, with a minimum of 30 minutes, plus a €10 call-out fee within Rotterdam.
An external drive or cloud subscription may come on top of that.

Real-life example
Ten years of family photos are stored on a single old laptop. We copy everything to an external drive and also set up an automatic cloud backup. After about an hour the photos are in three places and the customer knows how to find them again.
